Testimonials

Improved lives and livelihoods is what keeps us work even harder to ensure that we impact lives. Here are a few of testimonials from our beneficiaries.

My name is NIYONSENGA Adelyne and I am a student in Senior 3B. My father’s name is HABIMANA Amoni and my mother’s name is MUKAMANA Cloudine. I live in Muganza Village, Muringa Sector, and I stay with both of my parents. Before I became part of the DOP Project, life was very difficult for us. It was hard to get school fees, school materials, or even lunch money. I was often sent out of class, and my academic performance was affected. My family is not financially stable, which made things even more challenging. However, since the project began supporting me, I have been able to study well and pass my subjects. I now have hope that I will succeed in Senior 3. If the DOP Project continues supporting me, I believe I will study hard and achieve my dreams. One day, I also want to help children from vulnerable families, just as I was helped. I sincerely thank the DOP Project for the great things it has done for us. May God bless you abundantly.
My name is NIYOMUVANDIMWE Albert, and I am a student in Senior 1CB. I live in Nkiko Village, Kiruri Cell, Muringa Sector, Nyanza District. My parents are URIMUBENSHI Pascali and MUREKATETE Jeanne. Before I joined the DOP Project, life was very difficult. After passing Primary 6, my family could not afford to pay for my secondary education due to extreme financial challenges. We had no means at home. Fortunately, I was lucky to be supported by this project, and now my school fees are paid. I am able to study well, and my academic performance is improving. At home, my parents are also relieved from the burden of struggling to find school feeding and school materials for me. If the project continues supporting me, I believe I will complete all my studies successfully. I am very thankful to the DOP Project. May God bless you abundantly for all you are doing for us.
My name is USANASE Uwineza Alliane, and I am a student in S2B at GS Vunga. Before the project began supporting me, I was truly struggling with my studies. You know, poor people face many challenges, but what I personally experienced most was the lack of hope in daily life. I was often sent out of class in the middle of lessons. There were also times I came to school wearing an old, worn-out uniform because it was the only one I had, and I even wore it at home. It was constantly dirty since we couldn’t afford soap to wash it. Due to frequent suspensions and missing some exams, I always had poor grades and very limited knowledge. Since the project started supporting me, my life has improved greatly. Now, I am no longer sent out of class or forced to miss learning materials. Even though I still have only one uniform and it is old, I now receive soap to wash it, so I can come to school clean. Honestly, my hope in life has been restored, and my academic performance has greatly improved. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to my sponsor and tell them, “Thank you so much.” May God continue to bless you with resources so you can keep supporting our education and helping us build a brighter future.
My name is ISHIMWE Belyse, and I am a student in Senior 2D. My father’s name is UZARIBARA Fohu, and my mother’s name is UWIMANA Vestine. I live in Kiruri Cell, Muringa Sector, Nyanza District. Before I joined the DOP Project, it was very difficult for my family to afford my school fees. In most cases, they had to sell some of our household items or find small jobs to raise the money. But when the DOP Project began supporting me, they covered my school fees and provided school supplies. This helped me concentrate on my studies, and my performance began to improve. Previously, I ranked among the bottom 20 students, but now I rank among the top 10 in my class. If the project continues supporting me, I believe I will complete my education successfully. My dream is to become a teacher. I sincerely thank the DOP Project for making a difference in my life.
My name is UMURERWA Diane, and I am a student in Senior 3D. My father’s name is RWABUKUMBA Ildephonse, and my mother’s name is MUKANDANGE Ecalie. I live in Muturirwa Village, Muringa Sector. Before I joined the DOP Project, paying school fees was very difficult. I live with my mother only, as my father stays in Kigali trying to find work. Although he helps us when he can, it was still a big challenge to pay my school fees regularly. Since I became part of the project, my life has changed. I now study in peace without any interruptions, and my academic performance has improved. My grades have gone up, and I feel confident that I will pass the national exam. If the project continues to support me, I will be able to complete my secondary education and move on to advanced levels. If I finish school successfully and get good grades, my dream is to become a teacher. I am very thankful to the DOP Project for supporting my education.

Now I have no issues, I receive my school report on time, and my performance has been improving steadily. I’m also putting in more effort so that I can make my parents and the project that supports me proud. Currently, I am able to eat lunch at school and receive school materials. Before I became a beneficiary of the DOP Project (Dropout Prevention), life at home was very difficult. We could not afford school fees, school materials, or even lunch. As a result, my academic performance was poor. However, when the DOP project began supporting me, it became the solution to many of my challenges. I now receive everything I was previously lacking. No one sends me out of class anymore, my school fees are paid on time, I receive my school report , and I am able to eat lunch at school. Thanks to the continued support of the DOP Project, I am now motivated to study hard. My dream is to become a doctor one day.
My name is NDATIMANA Marie Jeanne, and I am a student in Senior 3B at GS Vunga. Before I came into contact with the project, life was very difficult for me. I used to live in fear of studying because I had no hope for the future. Even when I went to school, I wasn't motivated to pay attention because I kept wondering, “What’s the point? Even if I study, where will it lead me? And if I pass, who will pay my school fees?” These thoughts were caused by the extreme poverty my family lives in. Sometimes, I would go to school and be sent home during class while others continued learning due to lack of school feeding fees and materials. This made me feel very sad. There were even times when I was not allowed to sit for exams because my school feeding had not been paid. However, since the project started supporting me, I realized that God sees me too. It gave me strength to focus on my studies and lifted the sadness and despair I carried in my heart. I began to have hope for the future because I now have a sponsor who supports my parents in areas they couldn’t manage. I sincerely thank the project and wish my sponsor a long life and the financial means to continue helping me, so that more children like me can be supported. This support is helping us grow into people who will benefit not only ourselves but also our future families, because now I have hope in life. Additionally, I would like to kindly ask for support in getting a lamp for studying at night. We have no electricity at home, and the price of kerosene (Petrol) has become very high, making it difficult for me to study when I return home from school. Thank you very much.
My name is MUNEZERO Marie Rose, a student in S2D at GS Kaganza, located in Muringa Sector. Before I joined the project, life was extremely difficult. I was often sent out of school to go look for school fees, which was very hard for us because I come from a poor family. Honestly, I sometimes felt like dropping out of school because of the repeated suspensions due to unpaid fees. This would negatively affect my academic performance. At times, I would even question the reason for my existence and how I ended up living such a difficult life. There were even days when we had no food at home, which made it impossible to think about paying school fees while also going hungry. But ever since the project began supporting me, my life has changed for the better, especially in my education. Now I can study peacefully without any problems. I receive school materials and my school fees are paid on time. What brings me the most joy is that I am no longer sent out of class, and even at home, where food was once scarce, I now receive lunch at school. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I pray that God will bless and reward my sponsor with heaven.
My name is MUHAWENIMANA Sandrine, and I am a student in S2B at GS Vunga. This project has helped me in so many ways , I feel like they are now standing in the place of my mother, who passed away. I come from a family of five children, and I am the eldest. My mother died and left us when we were still young, only three children at the time. My father has since remarried, and as a result, he no longer takes proper care of my younger siblings. Getting school supplies and fees has become very difficult for me, even though I’m still young and also need care, yet I don’t have anyone to care for me. Before the project supported me, I was constantly being sent home to look for school fees, which I had no one to ask for. Getting school materials was also a serious challenge. But since the project stepped in, they have provided me with basic school supplies like notebooks and pens, and they also pay for my school feeding. Now I study well without being sent home from school. My grades have improved, and I’m gaining more knowledge because I no longer worry like I used to. To be honest, apart from worrying about my siblings, as I’ve taken on the responsibility of caring for them even though I am not capable, I no longer face any problems with my education. Please tell my sponsor: “Thank you so much. May God bless you and give you a long life so you can continue helping me with my studies.” Thank you.

Grace became pregnant at an early age and felt isolated and hopeless. After joining WPR’s SMEP program, she received training, joined a savings group (VSLA), and began to rebuild her life. With her first pig from the program, she grew a small livestock business, sold compost, and even started farming vegetables. Today, Grace is a successful entrepreneur. She owns a barbershop with a contract to serve local schools, employs three staff, and farms her land year-round. Her earnings allow her to pay school fees, provide nutritious food for her family, and create jobs in her community.

“I am deeply grateful to WPR. When I first joined the VSLA group I had no hope: I felt cursed, alone and ashamed. I had no dreams for the future and felt I was waiting only for life to end. Through the Training support about saving and comforting words of the group my confidence, hope and dreams returned. I can now pay my child’s school fees, buy clothes for myself and my baby, eat nutritious food from my own vegetables, and create employment for others in my community” — Grace

Esther, a young single mother, once struggled with abandonment and no savings. Through WPR’s SMEP, she learned to save and was given a pig. That one pig helped her to start her now thriving business, producing multiple litters of piglets, which she sold to invest in poultry farming. Esther now owns 80 chickens and 7 pigs, and she is preparing to sell more piglets to expand her farm. Esther has become a successful entrepreneur in her community and she is excited for the future of her business.

“I sincerely thank the WPR organization. You lifted me from a place of despair to where I am today .., and as you can see with your own eyes, the impact is visible. I am committed to continuing on the development journey you set me on. I am committed to continuing on the path you have shown me. With your support, training, and encouragement, I have discovered my potential as a woman, and I am determined to go as far as possible on this journey” — Esther
